Microsoft Entra ID is Microsoft's cloud identity and access management service. It authenticates users and controls access to applications and resources through single sign-on, multifactor authentication and policy-based Conditional Access. Organisations can manage employee, guest, application and workload identities, automate provisioning and use governance features such as access reviews and entitlement workflows. Monitoring and risk signals help security teams investigate suspicious sign-ins and apply stronger controls when needed. In healthcare, Entra ID can provide a common identity layer for cloud and integrated applications, but it does not replace application-level clinical permissions. Available governance, protection and automation features vary by licence, and effective use requires carefully designed roles, policies and recovery arrangements.
