Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust provides community physical healthcare, mental health, learning disability, addiction and brain injury services to more than 1.4 million people across Merseyside and parts of Lancashire and Cheshire. Around 11,000 staff work from more than 200 sites, including hospitals, clinics, urgent treatment centres, prisons and patients' homes.
Its services range from district nursing, children's public health and rehabilitation to crisis care, psychological therapies, inpatient mental healthcare and addiction treatment. Mersey Care is one of only three English trusts delivering high-secure mental healthcare, through Ashworth Hospital, and also provides medium- and low-secure forensic services. Specialist learning disability units, offender healthcare and virtual wards further distinguish its portfolio. Research includes a dedicated Mental Health Research for Innovation Centre with the University of Liverpool.
