North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust began operating in April 2026, bringing together Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The new organisation serves more than one million people through Warrington and Halton hospitals and over 70 community hubs and facilities across the wider North West.
Warrington Hospital provides emergency care, general medicine, surgery, stroke, cardiac and cancer care, maternity and paediatrics. Halton Hospital in Runcorn concentrates on planned surgery, diagnostics, chemotherapy, outpatients and urgent treatment. Community teams add services including nursing, therapies, children's healthcare and specialist support outside hospital. Combining these former organisations is intended to create more connected pathways between prevention, home-based care, hospital treatment and rehabilitation.
