North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust combines hospital and community health services across a large rural and coastal area. More than 6,500 staff deliver over 70 services from 15 principal locations, serving communities from Carlisle to Kendal, the Cumbrian coast and the North Pennines.
Its two main acute hospitals are the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, providing emergency, medical, surgical, maternity, children's, cancer and diagnostic care. Community hospitals, nursing and therapy teams support rehabilitation, long-term conditions and care closer to home. The Trust's integrated care communities bring professionals together around local populations, while education partnerships focus particularly on developing expertise for remote and rural medicine and improving access across challenging geography.
