University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is one of the NHS's largest hospital providers, serving more than one million people across Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Around 14,500 staff work at Royal Derby Hospital, Queen's Hospital Burton, Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, Samuel Johnson Community Hospital and Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital.
Royal Derby and Queen's Hospital both provide emergency, critical-care, medical, surgical, maternity and children's services, while the community hospitals extend planned, rehabilitation and diagnostic care closer to home. Formed by the merger of Derby and Burton trusts in 2018, the organisation now treats hundreds of thousands of emergency and outpatient patients each year. Teaching, clinical research and continuous quality improvement support its broad acute and community role.
