University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital and adult community healthcare across roughly 1,000 square miles of south Cumbria and north Lancashire. Its main sites are Furness General Hospital in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal, supported by community facilities in Millom, Morecambe and Ulverston.
Furness General and Royal Lancaster Infirmary provide full emergency, critical-care and general hospital services. Westmorland offers planned care and an urgent treatment centre, while all three sites deliver diagnostics, therapies, outpatients and surgery. Community teams work in homes, clinics, GP practices and hospitals to support independence and long-term conditions. As a university teaching trust, it also develops its workforce and patient care through education and research.
