East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital and community healthcare for almost one million people around Colchester, Ipswich and neighbouring areas. Formed in 2018, it operates Colchester and Ipswich hospitals alongside community hospitals in Aldeburgh, Clacton, Halstead, Harwich and Felixstowe, Bluebird Lodge and services in patients' homes.
Both main hospitals have major emergency departments and provide a broad range of medical, surgical, maternity, children's, cancer and diagnostic care. The trust also runs extensive community nursing and rehabilitation services, connecting hospital treatment with support at home. Several clinical departments, including oncology, trauma and orthopaedics, general surgery, urology and ophthalmology, are among England's largest, allowing specialist expertise to be provided locally across East Suffolk and North Essex.
