Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was created in April 2022 by bringing together the Royal Devon and Exeter and Northern Devon trusts. It provides acute, community, specialist, primary and integrated health and social care across northern, eastern and mid Devon, serving more than 615,000 people over an area exceeding 2,000 square miles.
Its principal acute hospitals are the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital at Wonford and North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple. Care is also delivered through community hospitals, outpatient clinics and people's homes, while some specialist services extend across the South West peninsula. With more than 15,000 staff, the trust is Devon's largest employer and has strong university, research and innovation links.
