About Epic
Epic is an integrated electronic patient record platform spanning inpatient, outpatient and specialist care. It brings clinical documentation, orders, results, observations, medication, care plans and communication into a shared patient chart, with mobile tools and role-specific workflows for different professions. Specialty applications cover areas such as theatres, critical care, oncology, maternity, emergency medicine, laboratory and radiology, while Care Everywhere and published interfaces support exchange with external organisations and systems. Because clinical and administrative functions use the same underlying record, information captured in one part of the pathway can be available elsewhere without re-entry. Each NHS deployment is configured to local services, terminology, policies and integrations, often with a locally branded programme rather than every Epic module being implemented identically.
