About Epic
Epic's patient administration capabilities manage the identity, scheduling and encounter framework around care. Registration tools maintain demographics and identifiers; referral and appointment functions coordinate access; and Grand Central supports admissions, transfers, discharges, beds and hospital capacity. Real-time patient-flow views help operational teams see demand, locate patients, plan discharge and anticipate bed requirements. Because these functions sit inside the wider Epic platform, an administrative event immediately provides context for connected clinical, diagnostic, medication and billing workflows instead of being copied between separate systems. MyChart can extend selected scheduling and check-in tasks to patients. UK trusts configure waiting-list rules, national identifiers, reporting and local pathways, so their Epic PAS implementations share a platform but are not operationally identical.
