About Epic
Epic can support virtual wards and remote patient monitoring through its shared clinical record, MyChart Care Companion and integrations with home devices and external monitoring platforms. Patients can follow digital care plans, receive reminders, answer questionnaires and submit symptoms or vital signs; supported Bluetooth devices or software connections can file readings into Epic flowsheets. Clinical teams review the information in their usual workflow, with notifications and escalation rules drawing attention to readings that require action. Video visits and secure messaging can supplement monitoring and in-person care. Epic is configurable rather than a single packaged NHS virtual ward: each trust defines eligible pathways, equipment, thresholds, staffing and response procedures, and may combine Epic with a separate technology or logistics partner.
