About Epic

Epic ASAP is the emergency department application within the Epic electronic patient record. It supports rapid arrival and registration, triage, patient tracking and event logging, with tracking-board and department-map views showing location and status. Physicians and nurses can document assessments, place orders, review results, reconcile and administer medication, and prepare discharge or admission within the same chart used elsewhere in the hospital. Analytics and quality-measure tools help teams monitor activity and performance, while integration with bed management supports movement into inpatient care. Because ASAP shares Epic's patient, medication, laboratory and imaging information, the emergency episode does not sit in an isolated record. Each trust configures layouts, alerts, order sets and workflows for its services.
