North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides urgent and emergency care across County Durham, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Stockton-on-Tees. It serves around 2.7 million people over 3,230 square miles, supported by more than 3,600 staff.
The Trust answers the region's 999 and NHS 111 calls, dispatches emergency ambulances and specialist response vehicles, and provides clinical advice and treatment by telephone or at the scene. Patient transport helps eligible people reach planned healthcare, while hazardous-area teams and emergency planners prepare for complex and major incidents. The Service also works with air ambulance, community first responders and other emergency services, and delivers first-aid education and medical cover for public events.
