London Ambulance Service NHS Trust is the only NHS provider serving the whole capital and is the UK's busiest emergency ambulance service. More than 8,000 staff and volunteers cover roughly 620 square miles and care for the nine million people who live in London, as well as commuters and visitors.
The Trust answers around two million 999 calls annually, dispatching ambulance crews, advanced paramedics and specialist responders while also providing clinical assessment and treatment by telephone. Its integrated NHS 111 services handle urgent care enquiries and guide patients to appropriate help. The Service also provides non-emergency transport, manages London's Emergency Bed Service and works with police, fire and health partners to prepare for and respond to major incidents.
