Microsoft BizTalk Server is enterprise integration middleware used to connect applications that exchange data in different formats. Adapters receive and send messages, maps transform their structure, and orchestrations coordinate multi-step processes with validation, routing, retries and exception handling. In healthcare deployments it can carry demographic, admission, order and result messages between PAS, EPR and departmental systems, often using locally defined HL7 schemas or components derived from Microsoft's healthcare tooling.
