West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and community healthcare for around 280,000 people across a largely rural area of about 600 square miles. Its principal site is the 430-bed West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds, offering emergency medicine, surgery, maternity, children’s services, diagnostics and specialist outpatient care.
The trust’s community teams deliver nursing, therapy and rehabilitation in people’s homes and local settings, helping patients remain independent and move safely between hospital and community care. Facilities include a Macmillan Unit for cancer services, an Eye Treatment Centre and dedicated day-surgery provision. With more than 3,400 whole-time-equivalent staff, the organisation works across traditional service boundaries to provide coordinated local care.
