Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is a busy acute provider serving a growing population of around 744,000. It runs the 700-bed East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, where emergency, inpatient and complex care are based, and provides outpatient, diagnostic and planned services at Caterham Dene, Crawley and Horsham hospitals and the Earlswood Centre.
Around 5,500 staff deliver care across the trust. Each year its emergency department sees more than 120,000 attendances, its maternity teams deliver nearly 4,000 babies, and almost half a million outpatient appointments take place. Formed in 1998, the trust combines local hospital services with teaching, clinical education and research, working across the Surrey–Sussex boundary to coordinate pathways for its diverse urban and rural communities.
