The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust provides acute hospital care for around 350,000 people in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, with an extended catchment reaching approximately 500,000. Its main 24-hour hospital is The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, supported by outpatient and diagnostic services at St Margaret's Hospital in Epping and the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford.
Around 4,000 staff deliver emergency, intensive-care, maternity, neonatal, children's, medical, surgical and diagnostic services. The trust works with local partners to integrate care and address health inequalities across communities centred on the M11 corridor. It is also progressing plans for a new hospital, intended to replace ageing facilities with a modern, digitally enabled environment for patients and staff.
