Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a major acute provider and one of the peninsula’s largest employers, with more than 6,000 staff. It runs Arrowe Park Hospital, home to Wirral’s only emergency department, Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital, and Clatterbridge Hospital, which has a strong focus on planned treatment and rehabilitation.

Across approximately 855 beds, the trust serves more than 320,000 local residents while some specialist services reach a wider population. Its clinical portfolio includes emergency medicine, surgery, maternity, paediatrics, diagnostics and outpatient care. As a teaching organisation, it supports education, research and innovation, and works with Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust to create more connected services across the peninsula.
