Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is the principal provider of acute and specialist hospital care for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Its three main sites are Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, St Michael's Hospital in Hayle and West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance, together providing around 780 inpatient beds for a resident population of approximately 470,000.
The trust employs about 6,700 people and treats substantially greater demand during Cornwall's busy visitor seasons. It is a teaching partner of the University of Exeter Medical School, the University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Peninsula Dental School. Research, clinical innovation and expanding the specialist care available within Cornwall are central to its work.
