Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust is one of only three dedicated children's hospital trusts in the UK. It combines acute and specialist hospital treatment with community, mental-health and learning-disability services, supporting children and young people at its Sheffield sites, in schools and homes, and through regional outreach.
Founded in 1876, Sheffield Children's now handles hundreds of thousands of appointments each year with a workforce of around 4,000. Its services include paediatric emergency care, haematology and oncology, orthopaedics, CAMHS and Embrace transport for critically ill children. The trust also hosts genomics work and develops new treatments and technologies with NHS, university and industry partners, including through the National Centre for Child Health Technology.
