Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital, community and older people's mental health services for Gateshead's population of around 200,000, while several specialist services reach patients across a wider region. Its principal site is the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, supported by facilities including Bensham Hospital, Blaydon Urgent Treatment Centre and the Community Diagnostic Centre at the Metrocentre.
The Trust delivers emergency and planned hospital care, rehabilitation, outpatient and diagnostic services. It is also known for specialist pathology, breast care, fertility and gynaecological cancer services, and hosts screening programmes including the regional bowel and abdominal aortic aneurysm screening hubs. Community teams help people manage their health and recovery closer to home.
