About Optum ePMA
Optum ePMA is an electronic prescribing and medicines administration extension to the supplier's Hospital Pharmacy system. It provides an interactive electronic drug chart with current medication information for prescribing, review and administration. Medicines reconciliation, decision-support alerts, one-click prescribing, supply requests and automated discharge summaries help information flow between ward, pharmacy and subsequent care. Real-time sharing can reduce transcription and support a more complete closed-loop medicines process when connected to dispensing and stock control. The exact safety rules, formulary, administration workflow, pharmacy interfaces and barcode capabilities depend on the deployed configuration. The separate Hospital Pharmacy foundation is required, so ePMA should not be assessed in isolation.
