About Apperta OpenEyes
OpenEyes is a clinician-led, open-source electronic patient record built specifically for ophthalmology and eye-care services. It provides clinical modules for examinations, operations, prescriptions and specialty workflows, alongside worklists, document generation, patient messaging and plotting of clinical measurements over time. Browser-based access allows the system to be used across devices and locations, while interfaces can connect it to hospital patient administration systems and ophthalmic equipment such as OCT and visual-field devices. The software is maintained as a community-owned project under an open-source licence and can be customised for local needs. Despite its classification in this register, OpenEyes is an ophthalmology EPR rather than a general emergency-department or urgent-care system.
