About Access Rio
Access Rio Virtual Wards extends the Rio electronic patient record to support patients receiving acute-level or step-down care at home. It can bring together care plans, patient flow and bed status, transfer and discharge workflows, remote monitoring information and dashboards so clinical teams can oversee people outside a hospital ward. Access describes interoperability across primary, secondary, social care and care-sector systems, with real-time alerts and visibility of clinical observations where connected monitoring services are used. The platform is intended to support admission avoidance and earlier discharge while retaining a coordinated record of care. The devices, monitoring pathways, alert thresholds and integrations used are determined by each organisation’s local virtual-ward model.
