Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust provides hospital care for around 675,000 people in Portsmouth and south-east Hampshire, with regional specialties serving more than two million. Most acute services are based at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, supported by outpatient, diagnostic and maternity facilities at community sites including Gosport, Petersfield and St Mary's Hospital.

Queen Alexandra offers emergency, medical, surgical, maternity, children's, critical care and diagnostic services. It is also a regional cancer centre and home to the Wessex Kidney Service. The Trust hosts Joint Hospital Group South, the country's largest Ministry of Defence hospital unit, where military clinicians work alongside NHS teams. University status reflects its education and research partnerships, supporting clinical training and studies that develop and test new treatments.
