Isle of Wight NHS Trust is the Island's provider of acute hospital and ambulance services. St Mary's Hospital in Newport is its main base, with 266 beds serving an offshore population of around 140,000. The Trust works in a group arrangement with Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, sharing executive leadership and board meetings.
St Mary's provides emergency medicine and surgery, planned operations, intensive care, maternity, neonatal and children's services, alongside diagnostics and outpatient care. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is also part of the Trust, covering emergency response, clinical coordination, patient transport and major-incident preparedness. Community, mental health and learning disability services transferred to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in 2024.
