About Epic
Epic supports ambient clinical documentation through built-in recording workflows and integrations with specialist ambient voice providers. Clinicians can capture an encounter using mobile applications such as Haiku or Rover; recorded speech is processed into draft clinical content and returned to the Epic workspace for review and finalisation. Newer Epic capabilities also apply ambient listening to nursing and other documentation workflows. The aim is to reduce typing and after-hours administration while allowing the clinician to concentrate on the patient. The technology does not remove professional responsibility: generated notes must be checked, corrected and approved before use. Each NHS trust determines the selected AI service, permitted consultation types, patient information process, retention rules, integration, clinical-safety assurance and ongoing accuracy monitoring.
