Hyland Alfresco

Hyland Alfresco is an enterprise content-services platform used to capture, organise, secure and govern documents and other unstructured information. Alfresco Content Services provides a repository with metadata, search, version control, permissions and workflow, while records-management capabilities can apply retention and governance rules. In an NHS electronic document management deployment, those building blocks can support scanned case notes and born-digital documents, making authorised content easier to retrieve and reducing dependence on paper. Alfresco is a configurable general content platform rather than a healthcare record with one fixed workflow. The patient indexing model, clinical-system links, document classes and retention schedules therefore come from each organisation's local solution design.
