MEDITECH Expanse supports maternity care through its integrated labour and delivery functionality. A status board gives teams an overview of women in the unit, while specialised flowsheets capture assessments, labour progress, interventions and birth information. Maternal and newborn records are linked so related information can be followed without losing each patient's distinct record. The system can connect prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum documentation, surface fetal monitoring information and provide mobile access at the point of care. Because maternity sits within the broader Expanse EHR, orders, results, medications and other clinical history can remain available in context. Exact workflows and interfaces depend on the modules implemented locally.
