East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24-hour emergency and urgent care across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Its region covers about 7,500 square miles and 6.3 million residents, combining dense towns and cities with extensive rural and coastal communities.
Three ambulance operations centres in Bedford, Chelmsford and Norwich receive and assess 999 calls, coordinate frontline ambulances, rapid-response vehicles, specialist teams and volunteers, and help some patients access suitable care without an ambulance journey. The trust also delivers patient transport and transfer services in parts of the region. Hazardous-area response, major-incident resources and community first responders support its emergency capability, alongside collaboration with hospitals, air ambulances and local care systems.
