Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital and community services for more than 500,000 people across Northumberland and North Tyneside. Its network includes the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington, general hospitals at Hexham, North Tyneside and Wansbeck, and several community hospitals and health centres.
The Cramlington hospital concentrates emergency consultants and specialist teams on one site for seriously ill or injured patients, while the general hospitals focus on planned operations, diagnostics, outpatients and ongoing care. Maternity, children's and specialist services operate across the network. Community nursing, therapies, podiatry, sexual health, palliative and child health teams support people throughout life, an important role across the area's dispersed rural, coastal and urban communities.
